340B Prime Vendor Program Adds MedivoxRx Technologies to Growing List of Companies Providing Low-Cost Drugs to Clinics, Hospitals and Programs for Low11 February 2006
The 340B Prime Vendor Program, managed byHealthCare Purchasing Partners International™ (HPPI) announced todaythat it has added MedivoxRx Technologies, Inc., a division of WizzardSoftware (OTC BB: WIZD), to its growing list of companies providing drugs,supplies and medical devices to clinics, hospitals and health care programsfor low-income Americans. HPPI's one-year contract with MedivoxRx beganFebruary 1, 2006.
HPPI signed MedivoxRx to the federal program that it began managingexclusively in September 2004. The program, known as the 340B Prime VendorProgram, provides deep discounts on outpatient drug purchases to publichospitals, community health centers, clinics, state-operated AIDS drugassistance programs and other safety-net health care providers servinglow-income and uninsured patients.
MedivoxRx will provide the 340B Prime Vendor with Rex-The TalkingPrescription Bottle and the accompanying pharmacy technology, which isfully automated through text-to-speech technology. The pharmacy technologyallows pharmacists to electronically record the label information to thepill bottle in a natural-sounding, computer-generated voice and works inconjunction with the pharmacy's current software and data. As thepharmacist sends the label information to the printer, the labelinformation is recorded into the base of the bottle. HPPI will also offerRex Starter Kits for personal use and Rex Refill Kits, which are packagedfor retail distribution.

The Prime Vendor Program was established to increase the discounts alreadyoffered under Section 340B of the U.S. Public Health Service Act, providinglow-cost drugs to clinics, hospitals and programs for low-income Americans.Over 12,000 providers across the country qualify to participate in thediscount program at no cost, and more than 2,000 facilities are currentlyenrolled.
