Alienware Announces Systems Featuring AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor

Alienware(R), the leading manufacturer of high-performance desktop, notebook, media center, and professional systems, announced that Alienware Aurora(TM) and Aurora(TM) ALX systems are now available with the new AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 dual-core processor. With AMD dual-core technology, Aurora 7500 and Aurora ALX systems open up exciting multitasking possibilities with increased capacity to run multiple applications simultaneously.

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual-core processor utilizes the next-generation approach of having two processing cores placed on a single die to provide maximum performance for multi-threaded and digital media applications. AMD dual-core powered Alienware systems allow users to work at full speed on one project while accomplishing another demanding task in the background, such as burning music, downloading large files, or rendering images.

Providing cutting-edge performance in both 32-bit and 64-bit computing environments, Alienware systems with AMD dual-core technology include innovations like an integrated memory controller that promotes faster processing and AMD's Direct Connect Architecture. Direct Connect Architecture supplies each processing core with the memory and I/O bandwidth necessary to maintain peak performance.

Initially AMD's Athlon 64 X2 will be available in the US only and will be launched in Europe shortly.
