American Megatrends to Demonstrate Advanced Virtualization, Replication and Snapshot features of StorTrends® iTX Software at SNW Fall 200525 October 2005
American Megatrends Inc. (AMI), a leading provider of storage and computing innovations worldwide, announced today it will demonstrate virtualization with chained de-clustering, replication, thin provisioning, advanced snapshot and capacity expansion features of its StorTrends® iTX storage software stack at Storage Networking World (SNW). The demonstrations will take place at the AMI booth PP13 starting Tuesday October 25th.
“StorTrends iTX is one of the most advanced software stack in the storage market today,” said Paresh Chatterjee, AMI CTO. “The StorTrends iTX storage software stack has been developed as a modular design concept that allows OEMs to add or remove features within the software stack with ease. This allows OEMs to deliver a specific product to their customers that meets their exact needs while offering better performance and more robustness than our competition.”
“AMI continues to surpass our competition with feature enhancements like advanced snapshot, adaptive provisioning, replication, capacity expansion, chained de-clustering, advanced virtualization and failure recovery,” stated S. Shankar, president of AMI. “AMI's StorTrends products have enterprise-level features with price points that appeal to the SMB market as well.”
On display at SNW will be the advanced features of AMI's StorTrends iTX storage software stack:
Advanced Virtualization
Automatically expands volumes by re-striping data when additional StorTrends appliances are added, significantly faster than other contemporary storage stacks Chained de-clustering and campus networking support add failure tolerance without compromising on performance Support for distributed hot-spare nodes and thin provisioning allow capacity re-striping using existing free space to maintain redundancy even when multiple nodes fail Support for Microsoft MPIO through a DSM for enhanced performance Distributed hot-spare offers superior performance scaling and maximizes resource utilization by exploiting all the available network bandwidth, CPU power, memory capacity and spindle resources. Replication
Synchronous - smart link, power fail recovery and low latency contribute towards a high performance, high availability system Asynchronous - effective cache integration and innovative link failure recovery decrease bandwidth requirements and TCO without compromising performance and availability Snapshot-assisted - leverages powerful snapshot architecture to guarantee link- and network-efficiency, fastest recovery time and multiple recovery points for maximum flexibility Advanced Snapshot
Innovative snapshot architecture maximizes performance even with 256 active snapshots Creates and deletes snapshots in under half-a-second Rollback to a previous snapshot in under a second Up to 256 read-only and 256 read-write snapshots per volume AMI's Dual Dialect StorTrends iTX software offers support for both IP-SAN and NAS. It will be demonstrated using AMI's StorTrends 3100i and StorTrends 1100i storage appliances. The StorTrends 3100i has 15 hot-swap SATA drive bays, hardware RAID support and capacity of up to 7.5 TB. The StorTrends 1100i has 4 hot-swap SATA drives and capacity of up to 2 TB. ManageTrends, AMI's storage management suite, performs all functions relating to discovery, management, tracking and planning for storage growth.
