AMOI Selects Bitfone's Device Management and FOTA Technologies10 March 2006
Bitfone Corporation (www.bitfone.com), the pioneer and patentholder of firmware over-the-air (FOTA) update technology for mobile phones, today announced that Amoi Electronics, one of the largest Chinese mobile phone manufacturers, has selected Bitfone's comprehensive device management client suite to fulfill their requirements for Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA DM) industry standard, FOTA, and remote diagnostics support for their mobile devices.
Bitfone's award-winning and patent-protected mProve(TM) solution will be used by Amoi to update the firmware and file systems of their mobile phones over the air. Bitfone's Mobile Variance Agent TM (MVA) will provide OMA DM-based device configuration and management including real-time device profiling to extract hundreds of device parameters and configurations enabling the troubleshooting of device problems remotely.

In conjunction with the customer announcement, Bitfone announced the launch of Bitfone's Mobile Variance Agent (MVA) 2.0, which Amoi has selected for its handsets to support OMA DM requirements from operators worldwide. MVA 2.0 is a standards-based device management agent that supports OMA DM-based use cases such as device provisioning, configuration, profiling, diagnostics, and the end-to-end management of the FOTA update process. MVA 2.0 is available as an SDK that includes a suite of tools for reducing integration time and verifying implementations through validation and conformance testing. In November, MVA successfully demonstrated OMA DM conformance with multiple standards-based servers at the OMA TestFest in Dusseldorf, Germany. OMA TestFests are Interoperability Testing Events designed to verify conformance with OMA standards. Bitfone's MVA has been adopted by multiple handset vendors worldwide and is in commercial use today.
