ATI Introduces Mobility FireGL V5000 PCI Express Mobile Workstation Graphics Technology5 February 2005
For the first time, notebook users have the same geometry processing hardware that they enjoy in the high-end desktops. The Mobility FireGL V5000 combines outstanding performance and stability with the industry's lowest power consumption design and features eight-pixel pipelines, six geometry engines, and 128MB of GDDR3 memory.
"This combination of ATI and HP technologies is ideal for professional graphics users that need to run 3D intensive applications at the office, in the field, or at home," said Chris Convertito, Product Manager for HP's mobile workstations. "ATI's MOBILITY FireGL V5000 delivers the exceptional graphics performance that customers are demanding across an entire range of industries. The new HP Compaq nw8240 really lets us take advantage of ATI's technology to deliver performance without sacrificing image quality or battery life."
"Whether you are an engineer on a construction site, an architect presenting a client with a real-time walkthrough of a structure or an animator working on a film, you can expect nothing but the ultimate in performance with this new mobile workstation from HP," said Dave Rolston, ATI's VP and General Manager of Workstation and Embedded Products. "ATI's leadership in mobile workstation graphics market share will clearly be enhanced by the introduction of PCI Express-based mobile workstations."
HP's thin and light mobile workstation, 1.1 inches thick and weighing only 6.1 pounds, features a 15.4-wide UXGA screen with 1920 x 1200 pixels of resolution that, when combined with the MOBILITY FireGL V5000's graphics capabilities, delivers stunning graphics for the most complex projects. The HP Compaq nw8240 features an optical drive, up to 2GB of memory, a 60GB, 7200 RPM hard drive, plus 1GB network interface connection.
ATI's FireGL products, both desktop and mobile solutions are supported by a unified driver, which is tested and certified by professional 3D ISV partners for leading applications such as AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, Bentley Microstation, Catia, ICEM Surf, Solidworks, Discreet 3dsmax, Alias Maya, Alias Studio Tools, Avid SoftImage/XSI and Avid Express DV, simplifying system administration and upgrades. All FireGL products come with a three-year warranty and direct access to a dedicated workstation technical support team.
