AtomFilms Announce Winners of Intel Indies Film Contest

AtomFilms(R) today unveiled the winners of the Intel Indies Film Contest ( http://intel.atomfilms.com ) at an Intel-sponsored event at the Sundance Film Festival. An experienced panel of film industry judges culled through hundreds of entries from 40 different states to determine the winning films. The grand prize winner, Nicholas Worthey, received $25,000 in cash, $20,000 in Intel(R) Viiv(TM) technology-based digital home equipment, and an original content development deal with AtomFilms Studio.


"AtomFilms has a longstanding history of opening doors for today's most promising filmmakers and animators," said Scott Roesch, VP and GM of AtomFilms. "The Intel Indies Film Contest gave us a great new forum for discovering and rewarding talented and visionary artists."


Entries were accepted between September 27, 2005 and November 21, 2005. The entrants were challenged to create films that imagine what could be transformed with the touch of a magic wand.


The Winners:


-- Grand Prize: The Wand, Nicholas J. Worthey


-- Whimsical animation in which a man rules the world with an


alien magic wand


-- Prizes: $25,000 cash, $20,000 in Intel Digital Home equipment,


and a development deal with AtomFilms Studio for a new film or


animation project


-- First Prize: Lord of the Mop, Alan Poon


-- A janitor picks up a conductor's wand in a music room and finds


that it has magical powers


-- Prize: $10,000 cash


-- First Prize: Edit Love, Kiyong Kim


-- A charming, geeky romantic comedy in which a would-be-boyfriend


re-edits his pickup lines on the fly


-- Prize: $10,000 cash


"The Intel Indies Film Contest celebrates the ingenuity and creativity of today's brightest new filmmakers and the technology that is helping this new generation of filmmakers create movie magic," said Intel's Kevin Corbett, vice president, Digital Home Group and general manager, Content Services Group.
