Barco Chooses ATI To Power Medical Display Systems For High Quality Radiology Imaging2 August 2006
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX: ATY)(NASDAQ: ATYT) announced that medical imaging specialist Barco has selected ATI to power its CORONIS diagnostic display system. Created especially for high quality radiology imaging, the Barco CORONIS system leverages ATI's FireGL™ workstation graphics accelerators which feature ATI's industry leading Avivo™ video and display technology. This unique collaboration by ATI and Barco is another step towards the ongoing goal to increase the speed at which physicians can load, review, report and communicate patient cases.

ATI's powerful FireGL technology is integrated into the full range of CORONIS color and grayscale display systems. CORONIS comes in four versions: a 2 megapixel grayscale system, a 3 megapixel grayscale system, a 2 megapixel color system and a 3 megapixel color system featuring Barco's unique Diagnostic Luminance technology. This technology provides an unsurpassed luminance of 500 cd/m2, allowing radiologists to view both grayscale and color images on one versatile display system.
The technology cooperation enables Barco to customize ATI's graphics accelerators for optimum performance in medical applications such as digital radiography, conventional X-ray, digital mammography, ultrasound imaging, magnetic resonance, computed tomography, PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) and advanced visualization. Because of this, Barco is able to deliver CORONIS display systems that are not only faster than previous offerings, but are also easier to install, deploy and maintain. The integration of the CORONIS display systems provides intervention-free DICOM calibration and quality assurance.
