City of San Francisco Human Services Agency Deploys Good(TM) Mobile Messaging for IBM Lotus(R) Domino(R)27 June 2006
Good Technology, Inc., the trusted standard for enterprise mobile computing software and service, today announced the City of San Francisco's Human Services Agency (HSA) has deployed a pilot of Good Mobile Messaging for IBM Lotus Domino. The pilot will include Good Mobile Messaging running on Palm(R) Treo(TM) smart devices and Windows Mobile handhelds operating on the Nationwide Sprint PCS Network. Good Mobile Messaging for IBM Lotus Domino offers millions of Lotus Notes users true enterprise-class mobile collaboration and computing capability, with secure wireless access across a spectrum of smartphones and handhelds. "With Good Mobile Messaging our IT support time has nearly been cut to zero," said Jose Mejia, Network Operations manager, Information Technology for the City of San Francisco's Human Services Agency. "In addition, our users say they are more productive compared to when they were using other PDAs." Previously it took one to two hours to set up a device and another hour was required to train the end user. With Good Mobile Messaging, the devices can now be provisioned and upgraded en-masse using Good's Secure Over-The- Air(TM) functionality. And because the interface is so intuitive and easy to use, employees can learn to use the solution quickly. Once a handheld is up and running, support is minimal because the services are so reliable. In addition, third-party applications can now be deployed or upgraded over-the- air without IT having to touch the device. Good Mobile Messaging also gives HSA employees easy access to important data needed to provide services to the citizens of San Francisco. Whenever the management team is away from the office, Good Mobile Messaging allows them to easily and efficiently manage their e-mail, calendar, contacts, and Microsoft Office applications. Finally, because of Good's enterprise-class, end-to-end security model, the HSA does not have to worry about sensitive information on its devices. With Good Mobile Messaging the department can remotely wipe the device as soon as it is reported lost or stolen. "Sprint is committed to providing customers choice and flexibility for extending the workplace and changing how they manage their business," said David Owens, director of product marketing for Sprint. "Adding Good Mobile Messaging for IBM Lotus Domino to our portfolio allows business customers to choose the option that best addresses the needs of their mobile workforce."
