Courier Dispatching Software Without Using Email

Email serving is referred to as "push" technology. Push technology simply put, is a cell phone service provider's email server "pushing" email to a text emabled cell phone. If the email server is slow or backed up because of high email traffic, email can get clogged while being pushed through the server's email pipeline, causing the email message to get to the recipient's cell phone late; sometimes hours or even days date. This is a bad but real scenario for the same day delivery business. Almost every courier software program available requires email for the delivery of courier assignments. "Pull" technology is a much more effective alternative.

Here's how "pull" technology works. A courier customer goes online to www.DocuDirector.com to order a courier delivery. The delivery request is uploaded or "pulled" into DocuDirector's web server. The courier dispatcher is on the Internet so the dispatcher "pulls" the delivery information from the DocuDirector web server to his dispatcher tracking screen. The dispatcher assigns the delivery request to a courier but the dispatcher does not send or "push" an email.

The courier, using a BlackBerry with web browsing functionality is also on the web "pulling" delivery assignments from the dispatch tracking screen via DocuDirector's web server which updates the delivery data base every 60 seconds. New delivery assignments are immediately "pulled" by the courier's BlackBerry onto his screen. The driver then enters the status of his assignments, again using his BlackBerry. DocuDirector uploads or "pulls" all updates coming from the BlackBerry within a few seconds for the dispatcher and customers to read online. No emails were sent by either the dispatcher or the driver, hence, a totally web based courier dispatching and tracking software program. Delivery assignments are never late or lost. They are always recorded and they are always on time.
