Eaegis.com Announces Availability of the Thecus N5200 NAS Appliance31 July 2006
eAegis.com (Aegis, LLC), is pleased to announce it is now shipping the eagerly awaited Thecus N5200 range of NAS appliances. Thecus Technology first announced the product range at Computex Taipei in June 2006, coupled with the launch of its RouStor™ series of storage solutions. Thecus' RouStor™ series is a combination of their award-winning NAS technology with routing capabilities into a single device. The result is an all-in-one solution that handles both networking and network storage for the home or office. A unique feature otherwise not found within the Network Attached Storage arena.
The Thecus N5200 has freed itself from the constraints imposed by the Intel Xscale platform and adopted the x86 architecture. At the heart of the N5200 beats the Intel Celeron M processor, and with five Serial ATA II hard disk bays, it certainly seems, Thecus may have a product that could be a NAS in it’s own class.
The Thecus N5200 is a combination of two models. The N5200B model sports the five hot-swappable Serial ATA disk trays, offering RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6 or 10, as well as JBOD. Whilst, the N5200BR supports all the same attributes of the former, but including a 4-port Gigabit switch providing excellent connectivity options.
eAegis continues to offer its popular 48 hour burn-in testing service for at no extra charge for all pre-installed Thecus N5200 appliances. This service was initially introduced as an industry first back in June 2005. The companies 48 hour burn-in service is unique, unlike competitors who drop-ship, it’s units are delivered to the warehouse in Florida, and prepared meticulously then tested for 48 hours using it’s proprietary in-house utility specifically designed for RAID based appliances. A final QA is carried out, prior to shipping. The companies Total Quality Management (TQM) methodology eliminates any faults that may occur as a consequence, and provides the customer with an out of the box experience of being able to setup the unit within fifteen minutes of removing the unit from it’s packaging with little or no fuss.
