EPIN Business Promotion Conference Takes Off21 June 2006
EPIN Technologies Ltd. and CCTV International TV Corp. Shenzhen hosted the first business promotion conference entitled ''Train of Fortune to Pull out on Time'' at the Media Center in Beijing on May 31, 2006. The conference featured three topics: fortune, development, and cooperation. The hosting companies briefed attendees on the ''China Railway No.1 LED Screen'' in the Beijing West Railway Station. This large full-color screen (6.1 x 4.5 meters) broadcasts news, commercials, weather forecast, trip delays or changes, to hundreds of thousands of travellers at the station from dawn to midnight every day. Located in the middle of the entrance hall of the railway station, this screen is bound to draw the attention of numerous travellers. It is predicated to be an influential advertising platform in the railway system. Current and future trends of railway digital media were another focus of the conference. All the attendees indicated strong interests in the new media platform on the train. Attendees included a number of members of the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents, and a few other well-known local companies. The CTR Market Co. Ltd, a leading market information company in China, also presented analysis results of the value of the new railway digital media. The Ministry of Railways already listed the digital media platform as a key project of railway system digitalization. Railway digital media can serve as an all-inclusive platform that provides trip information, real-time news, entertainment, commercials, and a variety of other information. The days of panicking about an information blackout on the train are gone for good. Not only can passengers handle business, but they can also enjoy their favourite television shows and movies. They will not miss any information while relaxing during their trip. The conference used advertising time worth RMB1.2 million as the raffle prize, a unique highlight of the event. All the attendees keenly interacted with the hosts, inquiring about the new media. As the representative of the customers, Dr. Jisheng Li, vice president of Tsinghua Tong Fang Co. Ltd., delivered an insightful speech at the conference. More promotion conferences are to be held in a variety of other cities in the next few months. Another business promotion conference will take place in Guangdong Province in June. Notes to Editors EPIN Technologies, Ltd. was founded in 2002 by a group of elites with educational backgrounds from prestigious Chinese and Western universities and abundant experiences of senior management positions in large multinationals based in the United States and Europe. Based on wireless broadband technology, EPIN's Holomedia(R) platform integrates audio, video, network and mobile technologies as one single media. This platform being deployed in China railway system, covers both express trains and major railway stations and provides audio/video program, internet access and mobile value-added services to China's 1.5 billion railway travellers every year. EPIN's founders and senior executives are quite established in their own area. Together, they create an experienced and energetic management team with industry knowledge, technological skills and connections to make EPIN a success. Since the company's inception, they are dedicated to working with partners with a strong sense of business integrity and corporate responsibility. As the first company to bring in-train wireless Internet access to Chinese passengers, EPIN is committed to promote the application of wireless broadband technologies in China. Meanwhile, EPIN, as a representative of China's new media industry, has created a unique innovative business model, which perfectly combines technologies and media. EPIN has jointly set up a research center with both Tsinghua University and Communications University of China. Its list of partners includes recognizable corporations and institutions from home and abroad: Xinhua News Agency, China Central Meteorological Administration, UNDP (United Nations Development Program), BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games), China Unicom, CCTV, China Record, Ogilvy & Mather, ACNielsen, China Daily, ASUS Computer, Tsinghua Tong fang, sina.com and hexun.com. EPIN's Holomedia(R) platform, with its technical name as TraiNet Information Service System within railway industry, is one of the 38 subsystems planned in the railway information project of the Ministry of Railways. This system can simultaneously provide passengers in trains and train stations with audio/video broadcasting, Internet access, and mobile interactive services. This platform is being installed in China's railway system, covering both express trains and major railway stations. Based on the Holomedia(R) platform, EPIN provides rail customers with rich content services. On the in-train LCD, passengers can enjoy the video programs such as, GPS triggered station reports, business briefings about cities along the railway, travelling information and the latest entertainment programs, as well as the real time news from Xinhua News Agency and weather forecast from China Central Meteorological Administration. Besides the service information, the commercial advertisement is an important part of the video programs. As part of this platform, the Wi-Fi coverage also allows passengers to use their wireless-enabled laptops or PDAs to connect to the Internet and email services. Net game, music downloading and net chatting are also accessible to passengers. Relatively long and effective watching time and the annual 1.5 billion passenger volume make EPIN's Holomedia(R) the perfect platform for promoting a city image, corporate image as well as commercial promotion and advertising broadcasts. In 2004, EPIN won Beijing Municipality's bid for the ''2008 Beijing Olympic Wireless Network Solution.'' In 2005, its Railway Holomedia(R) Project was listed in the Top 10 most innovative business models by China Economic Times. Mainstream media such as CCTV and Forbes have vast coverage of EPIN's technological innovation and business development. Young as it is, EPIN plays an active role in charity and public service. It reached an agreement with UNDP (United Nations Development Program) to increase public awareness about HIV/AIDS and fight discrimination towards HIV carriers and AIDS patients. Under the agreement, EPIN uses its media platform to broadcast a public service announcement on express trains and at major railway stations across China. The ad, starring Chinese NBA player Yao Ming and Lakers legend Magic Johnson, has been widely shown in buses and local TV channels in Beijing. EPIN also work together with BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games) to promote the glorious sports. EPIN will continue to work on the cooperation and contribute to social harmony and development in China.
