Esnatech Connects Professors and Students at the University of Toronto

Esnatech, a leader in Unified Communications platforms, deployed a Telephony Office-LinX platform for the Center for Management Technology & Entrepreneurship at the University of Toronto. The goal was to streamline the way professors and students communicate and collaborate.
The Center for Management Technology & Entrepreneurship’s focus is the Canadian Financial Services Industry ("FSI"). The TD Canada Trust, RBC Financial Group, BMO Financial Group and Bell Canada have recognized the need for the potential benefits of research activity in this area and are sponsors of the Center’s work. But, just as important, these major firms provide their operations as "laboratories" for the research carried out by the Center. The Center is multidisciplinary in nature and collaborates with other units of the University of Toronto and comparable institutions abroad. For instance, the Faculty of Management and the Centre for International Studies are partners in the Center’s work. In this way, the Center has access to all sources of information and the Center’s researchers can collaborate with Principal Investigators in these and other disciplines.
With both professors and students engaged in many research projects throughout the year, a reliable and powerful tool to keep them connected and able to communicate in real-time was a major requirement when deciding which communication technology was needed to facilitate their daily research. They decided on integrating a Telephony Office-LinX platform into their voice network in order to enable real-time anywhere access to any member of their team. With both students and professors being all over the campus, and in some cases in different cities, they decided the Telephony office-LinX platform would deliver them instant access to all their messaging from any web interface, e-mail, or simply form their cell phone. This ensured that staff and students would be able to respond immediately to requests and enhance their daily productivity in order to complete their research in a timely manner.
“Esnatech’s Telephony Office-LinX provides our administrators and faculty members with anytime, anywhere access to messages from any telephone or personal computer,” said Joe Paradi, Executive Director of the Center. “The students and staff love the product and how easy it is to reach people and access messages directly from their e-mail. Another great tool is speech recognition, you simply call the Center’s main number and say the staff member’s name and instantly you’re connected to them.“
The solution also allowed the Center to leverage their current telephony investment by integrating into a legacy TDM environment. The Management Center could now continue to amortize the phone hardware and capture savings by not converting over to a new telephony environment. They do plan to migrate but Telephony Office-LinX allows them to deliver communication applications without converting to a VoIP environment right away. They can realize immediate productivity gains now, and capture VoIP cost savings at a later date.
