Excellence in Technology and Operations Earns Antenova the 2005 Award for Technology Innovation2 March 2006
Frost & Sullivan's recent analysis, North American Antenna Market for Mobile Devices, selected Antenova Limited as the recipient of the 2005 Award for Technology Innovation for its technological advancement in the antennas for mobile devices market. Antenova has used a three-way approach to aid its expansion. The usage of non-conductive (dielectric) materials in designing efficient and directional antennas was its first approach. Secondly, it invested heavily in research & development (R&D) to analyze the benefits, limitations, and future of wireless antenna technology. Thirdly, Antenova went in for selective partnerships, such as with Galtronics, to penetrate their patented High Dielectric Antenna (HDA(TM)) technology into the mobile phone and notebooks markets. "Antenova has shown tremendous growth in the past two years to become one of the top line antenna companies today," says Frost & Sullivan research analyst Sujatha Chellathurai. "The reason for Antenova's significant development is its implementation of a strong customer-focused approach to business." Antenova gained a competitive edge and substantially increased its unit shipments with the implementation of the three-way approach. The continuing challenge for antenna manufacturers is to meet customer requirements of high performance, high efficiency and value for money while maintaining its profitability. Antenova recognized the need to design miniaturized internal/embedded antennas that offer advantages in terms of size, power consumption, and ease of integration with radio frequency (RF) components. Being a technology driven and market led company, Antenova came out with its High Dielectric Antenna (HDA(TM)) technology and antenna products, which achieve lower consumption of battery power, better quality, and more efficient signal to noise ratio -- which all equate to better reception, longer battery life and less dropped calls. "Antenova's patented HDA(TM) technology achieved a breakthrough in cost and reliability and is now being applied to high volume, mass market consumer electronics applications such as mobile handsets and wireless data devices," explains Chellathurai. "Antenova became a pioneer with the development of an internal quad-band (QUADNOVA(R)) antenna for the mobile market and was also the first to deploy an internal penta-band (PENTANOVA(R)) antenna, setting trends for the mobile phone, smart phone, and PDA markets." Antenova focuses on expanding its existing product offerings by investing in new technologies, which can radically change the products or even offer incremental improvements to their existing technologies. An example would be Antenova's relationship with Japanese based Maruwa Com, Inc., to utilize their knowledge of low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) production processes for its antenna design. This has led to further miniaturization of their antennas and improved performance in wireless devices. With its operational excellence, customer-focused approach, and technological innovation, Antenova is poised for even greater growth in the years to come. Aggressive initiatives to satisfy customer demand and top notch innovations in antenna design to cope with emerging wireless technologies are other factors that make Antenova stand out from its competitors. In recognition of its consistent focus on delivering value to its customers by providing reliable, efficient, and cost effective products while successfully maintaining profitable growth, Frost & Sullivan is proud to present Antenova with the 2005 Award for Technology Innovation for the mobile devices market. Each year Frost & Sullivan presents this award to a company that has demonstrated technological superiority within its industry. It recognizes the ability of the company to successfully develop and introduce new technologies, formulate a well-designed product family, and make significant product performance contributions to the industry.
