Forum Systems Announces 64-Bit Support to Deliver Large-Scale and High-End System Performance and Capacity

2 May 2005

Forum Systems, the leader in Web services security for threat protection and trust management, announced today the immediate availability of a 64-bit version of its ground breaking Web Services Firewall. Forum XWall(TM) X5.0 x64 Edition brings the benefits of lower total cost of ownership and superior price for performance to enterprise-class and large-scale business applications.

A 64-bit architecture provides unlimited virtual memory and improved workload processing capabilities. Since memory is a primary resource for scalable computing, increased physical and virtual address space allows vastly larger amounts of data to be processed more efficiently. The handling of large data volumes such as binary attachments within SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages is rapidly becoming a mandatory requirement for financial services organizations and government agencies. The 64-bit technology also enhances I/O (Input and Output) to raise the ceiling on transactions processing rates and offers better cache management to eliminate delays in servicing requests.

"Sixty-four-bit computing allows Forum to leverage superior performance characteristics of both operating systems and hardware platforms. Intel, AMD, IBM, Microsoft, SUN as well as other vendors have significant capital in the development of 64-bit technology. We are able to capitalize on their collective advancement for direct value to our customers," said Mamoon Yunus, CTO of Forum Systems.

Forum XWall(TM) X5.0 x64 Edition is for business applications that require the increased data volumes and performance demands of large-scale computing. For a list of supported processors and operating systems please contact Forum Systems.

Forum X5.0 also integrates Computer Associate's award-winning eTrust(TM) Antivirus software, bringing industrial-strength protection against viruses, worms and malware. Forum XWall X5.0 is able to scan XML encoded content, scripts and binary attachments that are encrypted using the W3C XML-Encryption standard.

About Forum XWall X5.0

Forum XWall X5.0 is available May 1st, 2005 in software and appliance options with price ranging from $5,000 to $60,000 depending on configuration. Additional subscription fees are required for VulCon XML antivirus updates. The 64-bit operating system support includes: AIX, Solaris and Linux. Forum 2564 Model Appliance is a 64-bit hardware platform running the ForumOS(TM).
