Free Downloadable Audio Books Available 24/7 From New Hampshire Public Libraries!6 September 2006
It's snowing, the wind is blowing, you can't get out and you have nothing to read. It's a quarter to three, you're lying awake and you have nothing to read. But you can still check out the latest best seller without leaving home! Listeners of all ages, from participating New Hampshire Public Libraries, can choose from a selection of hundreds of titles in fiction and nonfiction. Users may listen to digital audio books via computer or laptop; burn to CD for playing in the car or on a stereo; or transfer to a compatible MP3 player. Digital audio books circulate for 14 days and will be available for free Internet downloading 24-hours a day from home computers through the Library's website http://nh.lib.overdrive.com. Cardholders simply browse the collection, enter in their library card number and check out the titles that they want. Highlighted Links New Hampshire Digital Library Digital Library Reserve, Inc. "This is an exciting opportunity for libraries to expand their services both beyond the library walls and normal library hours," said Michael York, the State Librarian. "We now have more than 20 libraries that have committed to the program and expect an additional 20 to join in the near future." The technology for the audio book download service is provided by OverDrive Inc., based in Cleveland, Ohio.
