Gevity Appoints President and Chief Operating Officer5 March 2006
Gevity (Nasdaq: GVHR), the leading provider of a comprehensive insourced employee management solution, has announced the appointment of Roy C. King to the newly created position of President and Chief Operating Officer. Reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Erik Vonk, Mr. King will be responsible for: * Overseeing the company's sales and market development activities to increase market share and support revenue growth. * Overseeing the company's service delivery functions, from value optimization through new product development. * Delivering predictable profitable growth by implementing the company's business strategies, maximizing client satisfaction, enhancing operating efficiencies and solidifying market leadership. Mr. King has a successful record of leading large global services and technology organizations across a number of diverse business sectors. Prior to Gevity, Mr. King was President and Chief Executive Officer of Security Source, Inc., a leading provider of security and loss prevention software and solutions. Earlier this year, Security Source was acquired by Checkpoint and LP Networks. In January 2001, Mr. King became Chairman, CEO and President of Mercator Software, Inc. (MCTR), a global provider of enterprise application integration solutions and services. While at Mercator, he engineered the firm's strategy, sales and development activities to better serve its global customers. Mercator was acquired by Ascential Software in late 2003 and is now part of IBM's portfolio. A former European-based IBM General Manager of Consulting & Integration Services, EMEA, Mr. King has over 28 years of business leadership experience in technology, operations, consulting, and services. He was an IBM executive from 1993 to 2000, leading a multi-billion dollar consulting and integration services business across a number of industries, verticals and offerings. Prior to joining IBM, Mr. King was a Partner with Booz Allen & Hamilton and KPMG Peat Marwick serving clients in the US and abroad. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BS in Industrial Engineering from Iowa State University. Other organizational changes Gevity also announced that Edwin Hightower has been appointed as the company's General Counsel. He will report to Clifford Sladnick, who has added the title of Gevity's Corporate Secretary in addition to his current position as Chief Administrative Officer. Mr. Hightower joined the Gevity team in 2002 as Corporate Counsel and was promoted to Vice President, Internal Human Resources in 2004. Prior to joining Gevity, he served as litigation counsel for Carnival Cruise Lines. Mr. Hightower earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Denver and his Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law.
