Memory. An approximately 1 GB of RAM in every 1 TB is required for the NAS server and mostly, 16-24 GB of RAM is used.

Storage. A 16 GB hard drives and flash drives are needed. There are hard drives designed specifically for NAS servers to be superior.

Power Supply. A 300-400 W of a power supply is fine enough for a NAS server.

Casing. Mini case or micro case is enough for NAS servers. A modular case also can be used and is recommended to easily add or remove components.

How to Assemble your NAS Hardware

In assembling NAS, you can do it just like how you build other computer servers. Just keep in mind to be careful and use a strap that is anti-static. When assembling the hardware, you might encounter any of these issues:

Components do not fit with one another. This usually happens when you buy the case online because the inside components may not fit properly.

Not working components. If one component is not working, then the server will not work properly. Be patient in testing each component until you find the root cause of the issue.

Tip in Assembling: Install everything on your motherboard first then install the motherboard to reduce troubleshooting problems. Also, TEST! Don’t get tired and test everything.

Software Set-Up of NAS Server
