Harry-Brot Standardizes on Cognos 8 Business Intelligence7 July 2006
Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence and performance management solutions, today announced that Harry-Brot GmbH has selected Cognos 8 Business Intelligence as its standard BI platform. With Cognos 8 BI, Harry-Brot will add 600 new users to its BI system, and will integrate BI with planning to form a comprehensive performance management system. Company management will be able to measure success from revenue and product capacity across the company, or detailed down to specific breads or rolls.
A long-time Cognos BI customer, Harry-Brot, a bread and baked goods specialist, has decided to upgrade to Cognos 8 BI as its standard analysis and reporting environment. Harry-Brot chose Cognos 8 BI because of its open Web services-based architecture and virtually seamless integration with IBM components such as Websphere, AIX and DB2. Harry-Brot decided to standardize its BI environment to reduce maintenance and administration time and costs, and at the same time, provide one holistic view of all sales and production figures. As a result, Harry-Brot will be able to track sales for specific bread and baked goods, and optimize ongoing production processes. In addition, Harry-Brot will leverage Cognos 8 BI as its foundation for an enterprise-wide performance management system.
Harry-Brot sought to replace a self-programmed fourth-generation ERP system and in order to successfully migrate to a new java-based platform, it needed a new reporting and analysis solution that was able to integrate with any data source. Cognos 8 BI's open, standards-based service oriented architecture (SOA), as well as its strong partnership with IBM and ability to integrate with all of the IBM components currently installed (Tivoli, DB2, AIX, Websphere, and others), made it the ideal solution for enterprise-wide BI standardization.
