HP Medical Archiving Solution Grows Customer Base, Certifications and Channel Program19 February 2006
SAN DIEGO, Feb. 16, 2006, HP today announced that the HP Medical Archiving Solution, which provides affordable long-term digital storage of patient medical images, has grown its customer base, achieved additional certifications and expanded its channel program.
Part of HP s information lifecycle management portfolio, the HP Medical Archiving Solution is designed for radiology practices within hospitals, clinics and diagnostic imaging centers. The solution allows physicians to access vital information securely and simultaneously in order to collaborate across departments and medical facilities.
Gwinnett Health System, a nonprofit healthcare network providing an array of high-quality services in Georgia, integrated its electronic medical records system with the HP Medical Archiving Solution for better management of patient information.
Thames Valley Hospital Planning Partnership, which consists of eight healthcare institutions in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, implemented the solution to enable its healthcare professionals to quickly and securely access, share and store digital medical images, such as X-rays and MRIs, as well as to eliminate the expensive use of film.

Expanded certifications and growing channel program
Increasing the potential for greater market adoption, the HP Medical Archiving Solution has received Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACs) certification from Siemens SIENET MagicStore systems for diagnostic image storage (on a Solaris platform). MagicStore is a DICOM 3.0 compliant enterprise storage solution that helps healthcare providers lower costs and increase quality of care with easier access to medical images.
Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas, a leading value-added distributor of enterprise computing products, storage and services, is the first distributor to be certified through the HP Medical Archiving Solution channel program. The channel program will promote HP resellers, VARS, and PACS partners with a strong customer base in healthcare, to provide complete enterprise storage solutions to hospitals with fast-growing imaging databases.

Industry-standard technology helps healthcare providers meet regulatory compliance
The HP Medical Archiving Solution stores data on a high-availability system based on industry-standard HP ProLiant servers with x86 processors and HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Arrays; it is powered by HP medical archiving software. Users are able to set policies to control the storage devices and media used to coincide with organizational needs.
Relying on open standards for interoperability, the solution is offered with technology refreshes and services for 24x7 support. The solution interfaces with existing single and multi-PACS applications, while also supporting the archiving requirements of pre-PACS environments.
