IBM to Enhance Its Supply Chain BTO Offering11 February 2006
IBM today announced that it will strengthen itsBusiness Transformation Outsourcing (BTO) capabilities in the $23.5 billionmarket for supply chain optimization and management services through theacquisition of Viacore, Inc., a leading provider of business processintegration solutions for real-time supply chain visibility. Financialterms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Last year IBM introduced the world's first supply-chain BTO capability,tapping into its rich internal supply chain experience, consultingexpertise, and analytics technologies, to help businesses operate andmanage end-to-end supply chain processes. The Viacore acquisition expandsIBM's capabilities, specifically in the electronics and retail industries,by enabling a client and its supply chain partners to easily exchangeinformation on capacity, inventory, production, sourcing, delivery,forecasting, and planning in real-time. This ability enables communities ofsupply chain partners to reduce costs, improve responsiveness to customersand forge more tightly integrated relationships.
