LAP Chooses IBM to Host Critical Business Applications22 March 2006
Lima Airport Partners has signed a five-yearcontract with IBM to provide hosting services for its SAP businessapplications. LAP selected IBM because of its experience in managing large local SAPhosting projects on UNIX platforms, providing the high reliability andavailability LAP requires. IBM hosts 80 percent of all SAP applications inPeru. LAP is the business consortium that manages operations for Jorge ChavezInternational Airport in Lima. "After considering the alternative of managing an in-house solution, wedecided to use IBM's hosting service, as it gives us access to IBM'sexpertise," said LAP CFO Pilar Vizcarra. "This agreement enables us toensure service availability and to take advantage of economies of scale,with the added benefits of relying on shared IT resources. Our personnelhave been freed up to focus on our strategic business areas." The services IBM will provide include the operation, monitoring andadministration of all SAP infrastructure for LAP, including communicationsand application support. Under the terms of the agreement, IBM will host the LAP applications at itsTechnological Campus in La Molina.
