Moldflow Corporation to Resell Customized Version of Elysiums CAD Doctor7 December 2004
Moldflow Corporation (NASDAQ:MFLO), the world leader in software and enabling hardware solutions for optimizing the design and manufacture of plastic products, today announced an agreement with Elysium Co., Ltd. under which Moldflow will resell a customized version of Elysium's CAD Doctor geometry translation, repair and simplification product. The Moldflow CAD Doctor has been designed specifically for the needs of the plastics injection molding industry and enables the interactive diagnostic analysis of 3D CAD data with tools for generating optimized models for predictive analysis applications such as the Moldflow Plastics Advisers(R) (MPA(R)) and Moldflow Plastics Insight(R) (MPI(R)).
Key features include:
-- Model Quality Checking - over 30 different types of model quality checks can be performed;
-- Automatic Stitching & Healing Tools - automatically stitch free edges in the model and identify and fix discontinuities, overlaps, intersections and other geometry errors;
-- Simplification Tools - numerous automatic and manual tools help optimize the geometry for use with MPA or MPI by suppressing or simplifying small fillets, radii, slivers, chamfers, lettering, tool symbols, embossing, and logos;
-- Create Points, Curves, and Surfaces - geometry creation tools give the user the flexibility of not having to revert to a CAD system to make simple geometry modifications such as adding ribs, bosses, and flow leaders and increasing thickness in specific regions.
"We recognize Elysium's expertise in developing CAD interoperability products and geometry simplification tools," commented Ken Welch, executive vice president and general manager of Moldflow's design analysis solutions business unit. "We believe our customers will benefit from the CAD Doctor product through faster analysis model preparation times, resulting in optimized geometry for Moldflow analyses and an overall increase in productivity."
The Moldflow CAD Doctor product is expected to be shipped and available to customers by the end of December.
