Media Release 14 February 2006 MPs facilities inHouse updated The debating chamber has been wired toenable MPs to use laptop computers while in theHouse. Wireless coverage and both Ethernet and powerconnectivity have been provided at each desk. The Speaker,Hon Margaret Wilson, says the provision of access forlaptops for MPs in the chamber follows a decision by theBusiness Committee last year. It is part of an ongoingstrategy to ensure Parliament keeps pace with technicaldevelopments. The use of electronic equipment in thechamber is covered by guidelines which will be updated toincorporate laptops and mobile devices.
