National Restaurant Association Launches Restaurant Employee Banking Program in Partnership with Wachovia, U.S. Bank21 January 2006
The National Restaurant Association -- in partnership with two of the nation's largest banks, Wachovia and U.S. Bank -- today launched its Restaurant Direct banking program. This new Association member benefit provides an exclusive package of banking services to restaurant employees, including free checking and Visa check card, free Internet banking, loan discounts (including auto loans) and more. "The restaurant industry is the nation's largest private-sector employer, providing career and employment opportunities for 12.5 million individuals, and restaurants everywhere strive to provide competitive employee benefits to attract and retain qualified staff," said Steven C. Anderson, the Association's president and chief executive officer. "The National Restaurant Association provides our members with excellent services to enhance the restaurant industry's workforce and growth. We are very pleased to offer Restaurant Direct and help restaurant employees build credit and their financial futures." The Restaurant Direct program is available exclusively to Association members, and there is no cost to member operators or their employees. Participating restaurant locations simply provide the Restaurant Direct materials to current employees and new-hires, and interested employees can then easily open an account and establish a new financial relationship with either Wachovia or U.S. Bank. Wachovia and U.S. Bank are separate companies that operate in different geographic regions of the United States. Additional information can be found on the Restaurant Direct Web site, http://www.restaurantdirect.com. The banking package includes: free checking with no minimum balance or direct deposit required; free ATM transactions at either Wachovia or U.S. Bank locations, as part of one's account with the specific bank; free Visa check card with rewards; free Internet banking with free bill pay; free first order of checks; discount on safe deposit boxes; discounts on various loans and lines of credit; special rates on certificates of deposit and special offers on investment services. Other benefits include a personal Association-branded no-annual fee, rewards Visa credit card by U.S. Bank available to restaurant employees nationwide. "U.S. Bank is excited to offer its services to restaurant employees nationwide through the National Restaurant Association," said Steve SaLoutos, Senior Vice President at U.S. Bank. "We welcome these new clients and look forward to working with them to provide solutions to their financial needs and help build a financially sound future together." "Restaurant Direct is a fantastic program that will provide new banking opportunities for restaurant employees with us here at Wachovia through our Wachovia At Work initiative," said Bonnie Carlson, director of Wachovia At Work. "We are excited to work with the National Restaurant Association on this great member benefit, and see the service as a true asset to both restaurant operators and their employees." The Restaurant Direct service reflects the results of a comprehensive development and thorough selection process by the National Restaurant Association, with recommendations and reviews by two committees of the Association's Board of Directors, and an organization representing all the state restaurant associations. In addition to being a valuable part of the Association's portfolio of member benefits, the Restaurant Direct program is also aimed at furthering more active communication between restaurant professionals, the National Restaurant Association and state restaurant association partners.
