New Sony VAIO notebook PCs show their Fall colours17 October 2005
Sony of Canada Ltd., Canada's leading supplier of electronic and computer products for consumers and business, today put the "personal" back into personal computer by introducing the new, multi-coloured VAIO(R) FJ-Series of slim, portable notebook PCs. Combining portable power and productivity with a sense of style, the VAIO FJ-Series notebook PCs are available in several colours that will complement the individual flair and personality of their owners. Onyx Black, Sky Blue and Raspberry Red casings are accented by similar shades on the bezels and palm rests of each notebook PC. The VAIO FJ Series is available with either the Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 operating system (VGN-FJ170B) or the Microsoft XP Professional Edition (VGN-FJ180PL and VGN-FJ180PR). It is also available with Microsoft's French language operating system (VGN-FJ170QB). All models feature integrated Intel(R) Centrino(TM) Pentium 740 M or 750 M Processors, fast serial ATA 100 gigabyte (GB) hard drives, advanced DDR2 512 megabyte (MB) random access memory (RAM), Integrated 802.11 b/g wireless LAN, Windows sound system compatibility with built-in stereo speakers, DVD+R double layer/ DVD+/-RW drive/burner, and 14.1" WXGA 1280 X 800 pixels resolution XBRITE(TM) liquid crystal display (LCD) display. The addition of the VAIO FJ Series VGN-FJ170QB model brings to three notebook PCs now manufactured by Sony for those Canadians whose first language is French. The VAIO FJ-Series model also comes with a full suite of Sony multimedia applications, including SonicStage(TM) software for managing music in a variety of formats and Click to DVD(TM) software for easy one-click DVD mastering. To make data sharing and transfer a breeze, the notebook also comes standard with a multitude of connector interfaces, including an i.LINK(R) (IEEE 1394) and two USB 2.0 ports as well as a Memory Stick(R) media slot. The VAIO FJ-Series notebook PC in Onyx Black will be available this month at manufacturer's suggested retail pricing (MSRP) starting at $1,899.99. The VAIO FJ-Series notebook PC, featuring an XP Professional operating system, has an MSRP starting at $1,999.99. Exclusive colours Raspberry Red and Sky Blue can be purchased next month.
