Next Inning Technology Research Examines November Semiconductor Sales7 January 2005
Next Inning Technology Research (http://www.nextinning.com), a service focused on semiconductor and technology companies, announced today that it has provided to members a review of November 2004 worldwide sales figures including comments regarding Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC - News) upcoming earnings announcement. Next Inning Editor Paul McWilliams has commented extensively about Intel and microprocessor market. Recently, he has preferred Advanced Micro Devices (NYSE: AMD - News) over Intel as favorite investment in the microprocessor segment.
In his most recent update, McWilliams commented on the outlook for the slew of upcoming earnings announcements:
"Based on the major players' mid-quarter updates, we already knew PC sales were running at or slightly ahead of typical seasonal patterns and cell phone handset sales were brisk ... our field research and anecdotal evidence suggests supply chain inventory of INTC processors has dropped appreciably. The net appears to indicate some companies like INTC should report Q4 sales towards the high side of their revised guidance, but others might not fare quite as well."
Next Inning also recently published a look at semiconductor trends for 2005 and beyond. The report included sectors and companies that Next Inning feels are unlikely to see meaningful competition from China during the current decade - at the top of the list were digital semiconductor leaders Altera (Nasdaq: ALTR - News) and Xilinx (Nasdaq: XLNX - News).
In this update, McWilliams also included his favorite semiconductor and technology investment ideas for 2005.
