NVIDIA Selects Advantest's T2000 Test System to Speed the Characterization and Transfer of Next Generation Products to High Volume Manufacturing ... S7 November 2006
Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857; NYSE: ATE), the world's leading supplier of semiconductor test equipment, announces that NVIDIA Corporation, the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, has selected Advantest's T2000 Open-Architecture Test System to support the characterization and debug of packaged silicon products. The system will be installed at King Yuan Electronics Company's (KYEC) new production support center in Hsin-chu, Taiwan. Keith Katcher, NVIDIA's Vice President of Worldwide Test, Assembly/Test Operations, remarked, "We welcome Advantest as a test partner and are impressed with Advantest as a well-managed, world class IC test leader -- not only in IC test technology, but also their global service and support infrastructure, excellent reputation and track record. NVIDIA looks forward to working with Advantest." Keith Lee, President and CEO for Advantest America, notes, "NVIDIA is a very innovative fabless company and their rapid growth rate and product portfolio reaffirm their commitment to the consumer by setting high standards for graphics and video applications. We are delighted to be selected by NVIDIA and are confident that the cost-efficient and very reliable T2000 will deliver the high quality of test that will meet their technology demands and stringent quality standards." Upon installation at KYEC, the system will be used for test program development, device characterization, and to support product transfers from NVIDIA's Santa Clara facility. KYEC, a NVIDIA test subcontracting partner, is a leading integrated back-end service provider in mixed-signal, logic, and memory testing and the largest IC test house in Taiwan. "Advantest has been a proven supplier providing KYEC with world class support and state-of-the-art test systems in performance and reliability," commented Gauss Chang, KYEC's Vice President of Business Center. "We look forward to this new opportunity with NVIDIA and the T2000 platform." Toshio Maruyama, President and CEO of Advantest Corporation stated, "I am very pleased that NVIDIA and KYEC have chosen to partner with Advantest on the deployment of the T2000 Test System in Taiwan. Our aggressive R&D program and commitment to world class support in all regions of the globe have been critical to providing compelling value and high customer satisfaction with Advantest's products." Advantest's T2000 Test System is designed specifically to test complex processors and other SoC devices and is used by chipmakers worldwide for testing GPUs, CPUs and other sophisticated products. Introduced in 2003, the T2000 is the industry's only test platform based on the first truly open, non- proprietary test architecture specifications: the OPEN Semiconductor Test Architecture (OPENSTAR(R)), developed by the not-for-profit Semiconductor Test Consortium. OPENSTAR specifications are completely public and accessible to developers and other industry companies. Test flexibility from engineering characterization to production The T2000 is easily configurable for testing microcontrollers, microprocessors, and radio frequency devices thanks to an expanding menu of test modules enabling unprecedented customization of test capabilities, with unmatched support for parallel testing. These features make the T2000 an ideal test system for IDMs, fabless companies, SCMs and foundries, which need a flexible platform with interchangeable modules that are easily adapted to changing device requirements, low costs, extendible tester life and lower risk of tester obsolescence. Advantest's vigorous growth in the non-memory test market is in large part attributable to the success of the T2000. About Advantest Advantest Corporation is the world's leading supplier of automatic test equipment to the semiconductor industry.
