IBM Japan, Ltd. has announced a five-year contract for IBM to transform and manage Omron Corporation's accounts receivable process through its Business Transformation Outsourcing (BTO) Delivery Center in Dalian, northern China. Omron Corporation is a leading manufacturer of automated control equipment. The contract is part of Omron's "Grand Design 2010" corporate transformation strategy to focus on core competencies and is expected to deliver operational improvements and cost efficiencies through the application of IBM's finance and administration process methodologies, standardized technology and global delivery capabilities to Omron's accounts receivable process. This agreement is an example of the new type of partnerships and delivery of on demand business value IBM is targeting in the Business Performance Transformation Services marketplace. IBM's Dalian BTO Center will manage Omron's sales proceeds appropriation, accounts receivable and payment processing, receivable cancellations and customer information functions. High-speed network links will connect the Dalian Center and Omron's Japan operations enabling data to be efficiently entered, referenced and transferred in a compatible timezone by the Center's Japanese speaking staff. A part of IBM's global BTO delivery network, the Dalian BTO Center transforms and delivers key business functions such as customer relationship management, finance and administration, human resources and procurement for IBM clients.
