Oracle to Expand Global SMB Investment With IBM for JD Edwards4 April 2006
In response to small and mid-size customers' demand for a continuation of Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software on IBM's platform, Oracle (Nasdaq: ORCL) today announced plans to strengthen its partnership with IBM to position their industry-leading SMB reseller channel to promote Oracle's JD Edwards applications. Specifically, Oracle has increased investment with IBM to jointly deliver JD Edwards solutions to the SMB market. The investment will support go-to-market activities for Oracle's JD Edwards software products with Oracle and IBM sales teams and value-added resellers (VARs). Additionally, Oracle will also work with IBM to deliver targeted programs supporting the VARs with hardware and services programs. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20020718/ORCLLOGO ) Together, Oracle and IBM are responding to end-user customer and reseller needs by providing a one-stop source for integrated SMB solutions -- including application software, middleware, database and hardware, business and technology consulting, rapid implementation and support services, training, certification and financing programs, to make it easy to get started. This includes IBM's DB2 database software and eServer offerings. The expanded programs resulting from the increased investment will make it simpler, faster, and less expensive to access and deploy solutions based on JD Edwards applications and IBM technology, by providing pre-configured systems that help channel partners and customers speed the time to business benefit. "Extending our investment with the IBM Channel enables us to meet the needs of our SMB customers worldwide that want low-cost, high-performance enterprise application software," said Oracle President, Charles Phillips. "JD Edwards is a brand that midsized organizations already rely on and trust. This investment serves to underscore our commitment to IBM and its reseller base and allows us to continue to develop this channel and build a stronger infrastructure to provide customers broader access to our joint solutions and enhance industry value." "JD Edwards has been a very strong brand for SMB customers around the globe," said Mark Elliott, General Manager, IBM Global Solution Sales. "This additional investment and commitment from Oracle will allow us to strengthen our channel efforts and programs for our joint IBM/JD Edwards solutions and VARs, and give our end customers the robust industry-specific, joint solutions they've come to expect from us." Customers Enjoy Close Relationships with IBM/Oracle partners Small and medium sized companies often prefer to work with local value-added resellers that specialize in their vertical industry or geographical region. These relationships are strong and based on value that is augmented by the reseller's expertise. MSS Technologies Inc. (http://www.msstech.com), a leading provider of business management solutions and consulting solutions in the western United States, works with Oracle and IBM to provide its mid-market customers manufacturing and financial management IT solutions based on JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and IBM. "Our Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne software, IBM iSeries hardware, and MSS Technologies services solution has provided Pioneer Balloon with a scalable and reliable platform. As an Oracle and IBM partner, MSS Technologies has been the primary factor in our successful implementation of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne manufacturing and financial software," said Kyle Bayliff, Director of Information Technology, Pioneer Balloon Company. "We rely on the solution implemented by MSS Technologies throughout the year for our end-to-end financial and manufacturing activities for producing and distributing over one billion balloons annually for our Qualatex brand name." (http://www.qualatex.com). TUFF SHED, Inc. (http://www.tuffshed.com) is the United States' leading manufacturer and installer of storage buildings and garages. "Our 100% revenue growth over the past three years has been supported with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications and services from MSS Technologies," said Timothy J. Schultz, Director of Information Technology, TUFF SHED, Inc. "We went from being able to process 60,000 transactions per day to being able to process 60,000 transactions per minute. Oracle's software scales with us as we grow our business." Expanded Global SMB Reseller Program for JD Edwards Built on 25-Year Partnership The increased investment is directed to re-establishing and augmenting programs previously in place between JD Edwards and IBM, as well as to delivering new go-to-market programs to facilitate demand generation by IBM resellers for JD Edwards applications. Built on an already strong 25-year relationship between JD Edwards and IBM, that has yielded loyal customers and partners, the new programs to be funded by this effort are expected to broaden to the Oracle JD Edwards - IBM ecosystem. In an effort to grow the current JD Edwards installed base and target "net new" customers, this investment is also intended to assist in developing regional and country-level go-to-market programs and will begin roll out in North America beginning in early 2006, with plans to later expand to Europe and Asia, creating a network of resources for SMB customers and solution providers across industries and regions. An example of the expanded channel relationship is the JD Edwards distribution program that will deliver jointly developed, pre-integrated hardware, software and services offerings through regional solution providers. Additional elements will include joint cooperative marketing to drive application software leads to the channel, and a joint advertising campaign to position and promote channel partners and the combined JD Edwards and IBM solutions in local markets. The companies also plan to leverage IBM's Small and Medium Business Advantage program to provide sales incentives, marketing tools and resources, training, and demonstration capabilities to the SMB channel partners.
