Panasonic Toughbook PCs Achieve Certification on Alltel EV-DO Network28 March 2006
Panasonic Computer Solutions Company today announced that select rugged and semi-rugged Panasonic(R) Toughbook(R) notebook computers have been certified for use on the next generation EV-DO wireless network of Alltel (NYSE: AT). Alltel is based in Little Rock, Arkansas, and has more than 10 million wireless customers. With this announcement, the rugged, MIL-STD-810F-tested Panasonic Toughbook CF-29 notebook PC and Toughbook CF-18 convertible tablet, as well as the semi-rugged CF-73 notebook, become the first mobile computers certified for use on the rapidly growing Alltel EV-DO network. Unlike many vendors, which only provide wireless connectivity as an add-on feature through PC cards, Panasonic engineers wireless technology into each unit. In this case, Panasonic has achieved certification of the embedded Sierra Wireless EM5625 modem, which was factory tested to ensure optimal wireless data quality. The addition of Alltel EV-DO connectivity builds on a history of wireless leadership at Panasonic.document.write(''); To see durable, reliable mobile computing solutions from Panasonic visit CTIA 2006, April 5-7, 2006 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth 2635.
