PolyServe Announces Support for the AMD Opteron(TM) Processor with 32- and 64- Bit Backward Compatibility

PolyServe announced today that the performance and memory advantages of the AMD Opteron(TM) processor are now available to file serving and database applications powered by PolyServe Matrix Server(TM) shared data clustering software. PolyServe has added support for AMD64 technology to the latest release of Matrix Server, version 3.1 for Linux. Matrix Server provides the technology foundation for PolyServe's scalable file serving and database consolidation solutions. Matrix Server 3.1 offers full support for both Novell SUSE SLES 9 and Red Hat 4.0 Linux operating systems. PolyServe's support for the AMD Opteron processor enables PolyServe shared data clusters to support larger databases that require 64-bit memory addressing and offer increased I/O performance on 64-bit file serving applications.
