QUALCOMM Announces Migration to 65 nm Process Technology

19 October 2005

QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and other advanced wireless technologies, today announced the Company will be adopting 65 nanometer (nm) process technology for select Mobile Station Modem(TM) (MSM(TM)) chipsets from its CDMA2000(R) and WCDMA (UMTS) product portfolios. Sixty-five nm process technology enables solutions for mobile handsets to be more cost-efficient, allows for the integration of more features, improves performance and reduces overall power consumption.

"QUALCOMM is committed to continually monitoring new industry technologies and trends, and implementing proven methods into our product portfolio to better meet our customers' needs," said Dr. Sanjay K. Jha, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "The performance and cost benefits of 65 nm process technology will enable us to offer greater functionality and optimized system solutions for mobile handsets."

QUALCOMM will offer CDMA2000 and WCDMA chipsets featuring 65 nm technology, including the MSM6800(TM), MSM6280(TM), MSM6260(TM), MSM6255A(TM) and MSM6245(TM) solutions. The first chipsets are scheduled to sample in the first half of 2006, followed by samples of other chipsets from QUALCOMM's product portfolios in 65 nm versions.

QUALCOMM's solutions support the Launchpad(TM) suite of advanced multimedia, connectivity, position location, user interface and removable
storage functionality, as well as QUALCOMM's BREW(R) solution. The BREW solution enables the development and monetization of advanced applications and content, allowing operators and OEMs to differentiate their products and services and increase revenues. QUALCOMM's chipsets also are compatible with the Java(TM) runtime environment; J2ME(TM) can be built entirely on the chipset as an extension to the BREW client.

QUALCOMM Incorporated (http://www.qualcomm.com) is a leader in developing and delivering innovative digital wireless communications products and services based on CDMA and other advanced technologies. Headquartered in San Diego, Calif., QUALCOMM is included in the S&P 500 Index and is a 2005 FORTUNE 500(R)company traded on The Nasdaq Stock Market(R) under the ticker symbol QCOM.
