Riverace Announces ACE Version 5.5 Release16 May 2006
Riverace Corporation announces the immediate availability of ACE version 5.5. This release culminates a 2-year development effort by the ACE developer community led by the Distributed Object Computing (DOC) Group at Vanderbilt University, Riverace Corporation, Remedy NL, and OCI. It features many new additions as well as support for more of today's leading-edge computing platforms. ACE 5.5 adds support for the following new computing platforms: * AIX 5L(TM) version 5.3 using IBM XL C++ V7 * HP-UX 11iv2 on PA-RISC using HP aC++ * HP-UX 11iv2 on Integrity using HP aC++ * Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 on both x86 and x64 * The Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS) on SPARC(R) using Sun Studio 10 * The Solaris 10 OS on x64 using Sun Studio 10 * All current platforms using GNU g++ 3.4.x * Windows(R) XP operating system (32 and 64 bits) using Visual Studio(R) 2005 * Windows CE operating system version 4.2 using Visual Studio 2005 * Windows Mobile 5 using Visual Studio 2005 The new features in ACE 5.5 include an addition to the ACE Reactor framework that takes advantage of the new epoll facility in Linux. This allows Linux-based network servers to scale to many thousands of connections with much higher performance.
