SBS Technologies Adds a Processor AdvancedMC Card to its Growing Telum AdvancedMC Portfolio

1 June 2005

Today, SBS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBSE), a leading provider of embedded computing technology, announced its new Telum(TM) ASLP10 AdvancedMC(R), the first processor Advanced Mezzanine Card (AdvancedMC(R)) with an Intel Pentium M processor in its Telum line of AdvancedMC products for Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA(R)) -- one of the broadest lines of communication modules in the embedded industry. The new Telum ASLP10 AdvancedMC, a high performance processor module, is compliant with AMC.0, AMC.1 Type 8, AMC.2 Type E2 and AMC.3 Type S2 specifications.

"A rapidly changing market requires a customer commitment that goes well beyond individual products. Customers who design SBS AdvancedMC boards into their systems can count on integration support, quality, reliability, and availability to meet their most-demanding customer needs. We know what it takes to make AdvancedMC work in today's environment," said Dave Greig, President and COO of SBS Technologies.

The Telum ASLP10 is a single width, full height AdvancedMC processor board with integrated low power Intel Pentium M processor and dual Gigabit Ethernet channels. This AdvancedMC processor module supports full hot swap capabilities and is designed for use in a broad range of applications such as wireless base stations, Voice over IP, test and measurement systems, media servers, base station controllers, and server blades applications.

"SBS Technologies extends the reach of AdvancedTCA capabilities with their new Intel processor-based Advanced Mezzanine Card module," said Kevin D Johnson, Director of the Intel(R) Communications Alliance. "Telecommunications developers can develop modular highly flexible AdvancedTCA systems with these cards, while realizing quicker time-to-market, more flexibility, scalability, and leading edge performance with Intel processor technology."

The Telum ASLP10's unique feature set includes up to 2 GBytes of 400 MHz DDR2 SDRAM with ECC, and a PCI Express 8X data port via the AdvancedMC connector.

"The Telum ASLP10 AdvancedMC processor module is the result of SBS Technologies' long history and wide ranging expertise in Mezzanine Modules and SBC designs," said Rubin Dhillon, General Manager of SBS Technologies' Communications division. "The Telum ASLP10 gives a system integrator the high performance of the latest Intel Pentium M processor, Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth, and excellent thermal properties, helping them maximize their high-performance system designs. This module is designed specifically to enable today's modular system architectures such as AdvancedTCA."

The Telum ASLP10 also includes a Module Management Controller (MMC) supporting the card's Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) architecture. The MMC is responsible for power sequencing, hot swap capabilities, and module management.

The Telum ASLP10 supports MontaVista(R) Linux Carrier Grade Edition and SUSE(R) Linux CGL Edition operating systems specifically designed for robust, high availability applications like those required by the communications industry.

Price and Availability

Available now, the pricing for the Telum ASLP10 in OEM quantities starts at $1750.
