Somatic Digital Announces the Unveiling of Its Advisory Board28 November 2005
Somatic Digital, a developer of innovative technology-based products for publishers announces the formation of the Company’s Technical Advisory Board (TAB). The unveiling of the TAB demonstrates the Company’s continued momentum toward being the leading provider of hardware and software tools that enable publishing companies to create hybrid, interactive, multimedia-based, special-needs-inclusive products.
The Somatic Digital TAB is comprised of leading experts in various but interrelated fields. The TAB provides the blending of human-computer interface (HCI), human-factors engineering, and education content experts to advise on strategic solutions for bridging the digital divide. This interdisciplinary team seeks to reduce the compartmentalization and guesswork that frequently is involved in product design, development, and deployment.
The initial focus of the TAB is the Company’s Touch User Interface (TUI) Technology for educational publishers. The TUI technology for publishers enables a student to simply press a picture or word on the printed page and connect directly to associated digital content.
The presentation of content to all students is driven by legislative requirements such as Section 504, Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (IDEA), No Child Left Behind (NCLB), and the National Instructional Materials Accessibility Standard (NIMAS).
According to Jason E. Barkeloo, Somatic Digital’s Founder and President, “Our TAB is a powerful mix of minds. The TAB provides an array of expertise to the Company to help it provide multi-cultural, multi-modal, technology-based solutions that help publishers produce products that meet the needs of their diverse reader population.

-Dr. Kerry Joels is an author and seasoned technologist who integrated educational content with technology for over 30 years.
-Dr. R. Everett Langford is an author with two earned doctorates (chemistry and health physics) with over 30 years of experience blending technology with education content.
-Dr. Douglas McCoy serves as an associate dean and has over 20 years of experience in education and technology research.
-Dr. Scott McLeod, lawyer, education professor, and former teacher has over a decade of developing educational programs that enrich student learning.
-Mr. Jeffrey D. Myers, Principal Research Scientist for Battelle Memorial Institute, has over 20 years of electrical and mechanical engineering development and manufacturing experience.
-Dr. Lisa Neal is a well-known e-learning consultant and Editor-in-Chief of a prestigious journal.
-Ms. Elise Anne Rufino has over 23 years of experience as a classroom teacher with certifications in math, science, and a master’s degree in special education.
-Dr. Raymond Scalettar, with over 30 years as an Arthritis and Rheumatic Diseases and Internal Medicine physician, has spearheaded many educational endeavors.
