Sybase Selects Cendura to Streamline IT Operations by Automating Change and Configuration Management20 January 2006

Cendura's Cohesion Suite automatically discovers and collects all software component settings about every configuration item or parameter used by data center applications, including web servers, application servers, databases and messaging middleware on Windows, Linux, Solaris, HP-UX and AIX platforms. Cohesion includes a library of blueprints that provides out-of-the-box manageability for the most widely-used commercial data center applications. Cohesion helps to accelerate software releases by quickly identifying deep configuration differences across a networked IT service. Cohesion can capture complete IT services snapshots that span all servers and their software components across multi-tiered and heterogeneous environments. IT service snapshots can be compared to baseline reference configurations, golden master configurations or against other deployments so IT organizations can quickly identify and isolate differences and changes between deployed instances of software or between complete networked environments. This includes differences between QA and staging, staging and production or production and disaster recovery.
Cohesion also helps to reduce application drift. Application drift can occur during day-to-day activities to improve and update applications -- such as releasing patches, updates, reconfigurations and optimization. After a short period of time, the original known and tested state of the IT service can become unpredictable and can affect the stability, and ultimately the availability, of data center applications. Cohesion can detect application setting changes through automated notifications to systems management consoles or rules compliance reports. Cohesion provides unmatched visibility for the actual configured application setting and changes across the data center.
