Velocita Wireless Teams up with Paynet to Enable Mobile Merchants to Process Credit Card Transactions at Rose Bowl11 January 2006
WOODBRIDGE, N.J., Jan. 9 -- Merchants at this year's Rose Bowl and neighboring parade route were able to speed up purchase transactions of official game memorabilia by 50% thanks to an innovative wireless point of sale (POS) solution, provided by Paynet Transactions and enabled by Velocita Wireless' data network. The Paynet solution, encompassing wireless credit card point-of-sale (POS) terminals and data service through Velocita Wireless' data network, enabled over 200 mobile merchants employed by Innovative Merchant Services to wirelessly process souvenir sales across over 30 locations in and around Pasadena California's Rose Bowl stadium. "We are proud to take part in this year's Rose Bowl and provide merchants the speed and agility they need to keep the flow of transaction data moving swiftly through our data network and services," said Craig Gosselin, Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Velocita Wireless. "To be chosen as the data service of choice from a leader like Paynet Transactions is a strong testament of our superior network and commitment to providing customers with the connectivity options and enhanced services they need to keep them running smoothly, wherever they conduct business. We look forward to growing our longstanding relationship with Paynet Transactions." "Like the rich history of the Rose Bowl, we are happy to keep the tradition of partnering with Velocita Wireless on historic sporting events alive and well through today's announcement," said Eric Kirk, Paynet Transactions. "In today's rapidly changing mobile environment it's imperative to keep up with the pace of our customers which in this case, means significantly reducing the demanding and time-consuming lines that have become commonplace through sporting events of this magnitude. Through our partnership with Velocita Wireless, we are able to provide our customers with speedy, reliable, easy and secure wireless credit card transactions at a grand scale." Each Paynet credit card terminal at the Rose Bowl was equipped with a wireless modem, allowing for rapid transaction transmission over the nationwide Velocita Wireless network. Once a credit card was swiped, the terminals wirelessly transmitted the data to a front-end processor, over the Velocita network, where it received authorization and was securely broadcast back to the terminal. The process took 4 seconds per transaction to complete roundtrip. The Velocita Wireless network is ideal for conducting wireless credit card transactions because of its seamless, nationwide coverage, low latency, high reliability and guaranteed confirmation of transactions.
