Voxant Expands Executive Team with Veteran News and Technology Leaders5 April 2006
Voxant, the first open distribution network for online news, today announced the appointment of two new executives to its management team. Jill Miller will serve as Voxant's Director of News Operations and will fill operations, editorial, and news product management roles. Jill has more than 20 years experience with news and online products. She has worked at Reuters, America Online, Time-Life Books and UPI. Ben Steinberg, Voxant's new vice president of development, is a 20-year development veteran with an extensive background in developing and bringing new technologies to market. He has worked at World Wide Retail Exchange, Engenia Software, and IBM. Voxant CEO Jeff Crigler tapped Miller and Steinberg to help develop Voxant's next- generation online news distribution service. "Jill and Ben are strategic additions to our team because they have the news and technology experience to help online publishers extend the market value of their media assets," Crigler said. At IBM, Ben held key development and management positions in the content and knowledgment management arena for 8 years including leading the development and commercialization efforts for the patented IBM Search and Retreival Databolts product which was a core component of the IBM Internet Commerce Server, serving as a Director in the Lotus Knowledge Management Group after IBM's acquisition of Lotus, and being responsible for the sale and deployment of IBM's worldwide content retrieval systems where he worked with organizations such as Reuters to collect and distribute content via the IBM infoMarket service. Crigler joined Voxant in July 2005 after successful stints as founder and CEO of Engenia Software and as vice president of Internet Information Systems at IBM, where he led the company's reinvention as the world's preeminent "e- business" company. Crigler also founded a lobbying software company that he sold to LexisNexis and subsequently worked for LexisNexis developing the first HTML-based Internet services tools. He also has been a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., and a speechwriter for President Duarte in El Salvador.
