VueScan 8.3.23 supports Apple Macintosh with Intel Processors

17 January 2006

Hamrick Software, the developer of the world's most popular scanning software for consumers and professionals, has released VueScan 8.3.23, its award-winning program that enables users to more easily produce better quality digital images from color snapshots, microfiche and microfilm, negatives, slides and paper documents.

VueScan 8.3.23 has been extensively tested and qualified with the Apple Macintosh systems that use Intel processors. This enables Apple users to continue to use their film scanners and flatbed scanners with these new Apple systems.

"Most scanner manufacturers don't release new versions of their software for older scanners," noted Ed Hamrick, president of Hamrick Software. "They would prefer that customers buy new scanners, since they only make money when someone buys a new scanner. This results in perfectly good scanners being unusable with the new Apple Macintosh systems that use Intel processors. VueScan lets users continue using their older scanners, producing scans that look as good as scans from a brand new scanner."

VueScan supports over 400 scanner models and one license number will support up to four different computers. This offers customers the chance to retain their existing scanner and purchase a new MacBook Pro or iMac without needing to buy a new scanner. Even older SCSI scanners can be used with these new Apple systems, by using a Firewire to SCSI converter.

VueScan is available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. VueScan automatically adjusts images to optimum color balance that reduces the need to manually do this in Photoshop. VueScan includes built-in color calibration of scanners, producing colors that look true to life.

Supporting more than 100 brands of negative film and over 400 scanner models, VueScan offers options for scanning faded slides and prints; batch scanning, IT8 color calibration and other advanced and powerful scanning features, including PDF output. For a detailed listing of VueScan features see: http://www.hamrick.com/abo.html.

VueScan is available in two editions, Standard Edition of VueScan ($49.95 USD) and Professional Edition ($89.95). The Professional Edition adds unlimited free upgrades, advanced IT8 color calibration and support for raw scan files. Multi-user licenses are available. A fully functional, trial copy of VueScan can be downloaded from http://www.hamrick.com/.

Based in Phoenix, AZ, Hamrick Software was founded in 1991. Its first product was VuePrint, an easy to use JPEG viewer for Windows that for many years was the recommended image viewer for AOL, with more than 100,000 users. In 1998, the company first released VueScan, a program for scanning with flatbed and film scanners with more than 120,000 users all over the world.
