WD Wins Two Gear of the Year Awards From Maximum PC Magazine

Western Digital Corp. (NYSE: WDC) today announced that two of its products, WD Dual-option(TM) Media Center and WD Raptor(R) hard drives, have each received Maximum PC magazine's "Gear of the Year 2004" award. WD Dual-option Media Center was selected as Best Backup Drive. WD Raptor was named Hard Drive of the Year for the second straight year.

The publication, in announcing its "Gear of the Year 2004" awards, noted, "Only a select few elevate our rigs to the highest levels of PC-induced transcendence. These are those products. We guarantee they'll make a fine addition to your computer -- and your life."

Maximum PC magazine, which published the news in its December 2004 issue, is a leading resource for enthusiasts of high-performance PC products. Over the course of the year, the magazine's lab scrutinizes and tests hundreds of different products in a variety of categories in order to select the best of breed for end users.
